The School of Hotel and
Restaurant Administration has a reputation for providing qualified and
skillful managers in lodging, restaurants, clubs and non-commercial settings.
An education facility of more that 22,500 square feet houses laboratories,
classrooms, exhibit areas and faculty offices. Specific accommodations
include: hotel lobby with front desk and reservation system; The Atherton
Hotel of OSU (a teaching hotel); quantity food preparation areas with state-of-the-art
management and table service laboratory (Taylor’s Dining Room); a quick
service laboratory (Westside Café); laboratory for computer management
information systems; basic food preparation (Jim Anderson Laboratory);
classroom and demonstration area; and project room.
The Bachelor of Science Degree,
Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Hospitality Administration
prepares people and service oriented professionals for management and supervisory
level positions in the hospitality industry. A broad general education
equips the students to approach problem solving with an interdisciplinary
perspective. An advisory board composed of CEOs from major hospitality-related
corporations is directly involved with review of the curriculum and programming
to prepare students for challenges of the 21st century job market.
