Today's issue is brief in keeping with the Holiday Spirit plus the fact that I'm sure many of you have last minute details that have to be tended to regarding Friday night and even more still are "on call" for the weekend. Best wishes to all for a successful and uneventful Y2K crossover. It should be interesting.

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED

By this February you'll have the opportunity to register for some upcoming online educational seminars that will be hosted at the web site of Hospitality 1ST. There will be no cost "to attend" but you will be asked to participate in a couple of various info surveys which will remain confidential - and your privacy, as always, will never be compromised. So many of you have asked and requested help concerning formatting of e-mails, WORD documents, web pages, sales literature and more techniques dedicated to your Sales,  Marketing & PR efforts -- that I think you'll be happy to join the classes. The "classroom" will be password protected. Guest "teachers"  will be involved from around the Hospitality Industry. It should be an experience that will help improve your efforts, whether in a hotel or restaurant, convention bureau or conference center -- it's an opportunity to learn at your own pace -- best part of all is that the "school" will be open 24/7. Keep an eye here for more details to follow in January issues.

How about some feedback?? I'm posing a question to the restaurant personnel that do frequent this newsletter and the Hospitality 1ST web site. Here's the scenario (true);  a family calls restaurant on December 23rd for dinner  reservations on Sunday December 26th, which are confirmed and the {{phone host}} even takes the guests phone number. Upon arriving at the restaurant on December 26 at the specified time, the "potential" dinner guests are confronted with a closed restaurant (remember that the guests have already had confirmed reservations). What would you do and/or suggest to these guests? Is a comp dinner in order? Obviously they have the option of taking their business elsewhere BUT they have been long time dinner guests of the establishment. Care to be quoted?? Drop a note my way and I'll be happy to post the results. Comments are open to anyone - but I am curious how those with restaurants feel.
