MESSAGE FROM OUR NEWSLETTER SPONSOR:
====================================
Lovers contemplate a sunset. He wraps his arm around her waist. An egret
stands in the shallows eyeing a school of shiners. While lunching at the
dockside grill, a man challenges his  granddaughter to a game of golf. A
boy reels in the largest grouper he has ever seen.  His mother snaps the
picture. These are just some of the countless melodies at the South Seas
Resort, a 330-acre tropical paradise off the southwest coast of Florida.
In every sea there is an island of precious harmony.  When you arrive at
our Captiva Island sun-drenched -- aquatic playground,  the song begins.
For more information: please phone (800) 227-8482, or visit us online at

NOTE TO HOTMAIL USERS
=======================
Over the next four to five weeks we will be eliminating e-mail sent to
hotmail.com users.  An abundant amount of spam is/has been generated
necessitating this action.  Microsoft has failed to curb the amount of
rampant fraudulent e-mail so were going to do what little we can with
the resources we have.  This action will only affect about 200 current
subscribers (of our 11,980+) and Yahoo e-mail account users are safe
for now - but this action might also apply to them in the near future.

MARKET CHANGES
==============
As reduced business and leisure travel leaves the airlines whining, we
find that automoblile (ok SUVs too) travel is picking up the pace even
with the time disadvantages involved. Are you targeting the auto trav-
eler with your sales and marketing message(s)? Time to become familiar
with {roadside} services again.  https://www.smartraveler.com/ which is
SmarTraveler, hosted by Westwood One Co., offers traffic information
services in about 11 different cities (via web) and a total nearing 80
cities, via radio affiliates. 511 Traveler Information Network has a
presence at https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/trafficinfo/511.htm  which is pro-
vided by the US DOT and Federal Highway Administration.  This fledging
phone network has been slowly implemented - funding usually slowing up
the pace of acceptance across the US. We mention these drivetime re-
sources since many of you author newsletters to your own clientel, the
clientel thats turning to their own vehicles to get them from point A
to point B for that next business meeting, or family travel excursion.
https://www.511virginia.org/ and https://www.az511.com/  are examples of
two states (VA, AZ) that seem to be headed in the right direction.

SEARCHING THE DEEP WEB
========================
Many times you need more information/research than what you might find
on the traditional web. This is when you turn to searches known by a
librarian or two as the deep web.  These are usually resources found
only at your local library or university with special privileges being
granted (i.e. you subscribe) that allow you to go into databases which
are not accessible by traditional search engines like Google (still an
overwhelming favorite among most). Our mission here yep - is we like
to provide alternatives. A software program known as LexiBot[tm], by
BrightPlanet[tm], makes the process available from your own desktop in
minutes -- once youve downloaded their trial (30-day) program. Thats
a program which takes about 10 minutes to download and usually you can
have it up and running within minutes of reading its help file (so you
understand exactly what it can/can not do). Word of caution -- program
is addicting! https://hospitality-1st.com/rd-102902-01.html provides an
immediate download (those on a network are encouraged to first receive
permission from your network admin before downloading). Everyones re-
minded to scan {{{any}}} downloaded program for possible viruses prior
to installation. If you have any trouble with the above link - you can
use this home page https://www.lexibot.com/ and locate the program from
the download category.

E-MAIL MARKETING
================
Weve got a great formatting tool, courtesy of WebReference.com, which
provides for custom e-mail messages via a mailto link. These special
URLs can be copied and pasted to web pages or formatted within most of
the common e-mail programs that allow for html encoding.  We usually
do not recommend html e-mails, due to the intrusion they can impose on
the end recipients computer, but can not put our head into the sand by
denying their use by many marketers in the hospitality industry. Yours
for the taking at https://hospitality-1st.com/rd-102902-02.html or make
a moment to visit the entire WebReference.com site (which is a part of
the larger Internet.com domain) at https://webreference.com/  where you
open yourself to a wide variety of specialized web formatting ideas.

===============
OLD WEB SITES
===============
Sometimes were asked about information we deem old or outdated in the
industry and cant truly point a person in the right direction. Saying
sorry or no is not always good (but most normal people understand when
you cant help) so we often turn those with such inquries to the Way-
Back Machine aka Internet Archive, which is housed at the Presidio of
San Francisco. In their words, Internet Archive is building a digital
library of Internet sites & other cultural artifacts, in digital form.
We provide free access - to researchers, historians, scholars, and the
general public. loads immediately -- there are no
pop-ups or advertising intrusions.
