Parsippany,
NJ April 2008 Wyndham Hotels
and Resorts has announced that construction of its 400-room luxury
resort in the Bonnet Creek Resort complex adjacent to Walt Disney World®
at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., which began this month, is expected to be completed
by the first quarter of 2010.
The
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel and Spa at Bonnet Creek the first mixed-used
development undertaken by parent company Wyndham Worldwide will be managed
by Wyndham Hotel Management Inc.
The
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Hotel and Spa at Bonnet Creek Resort will complement
Wyndham Vacation Ownerships adjacent Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, the
companys flagship timeshare facility in Orlando. The popularity of this
resort has prompted multiple expansions on the 70-acre site area.
It
is anticipated the complex ultimately will total 1,594 vacation ownership
units, the most at any Wyndham Vacation Ownership location.
This
hotel project represents a major accomplishment in our strategic plan to
grow the upscale Wyndham brand and leverage the strength of our parent
companys hotel and vacation ownership components, said Peter Strebel,
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts president. The resort will be an incredible
asset in a great location with a host of thoughtful amenities and conveniences
that families and groups will appreciate.

The
hotels Spanish Mediterranean architecture, designed by HHCP Architects
of Maitland, Fla., will be reminiscent of the historic Flagler-era resorts
of St. Augustine. The design calls for a 7,000-square-foot Wyndham Blue
Harmony spa and fitness center; 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting
and conference space including an 8,000-square-foot main ballroom designed
for groups up to 600; a full-service specialty restaurant; three-meal,
open-kitchen display restaurant; pool bar and grill; lobby bar; and the
Wyndham brands new combination café, barista and food mart, named
Eat. Refresh. Live.
The
resort also will feature a child-friendly, zero-entry swimming pool that
allows swimmers to enter gradually deepening water without the use of steps
or ladders; shade cabanas equipped with televisions, ceiling fans, refrigerators
and plush furnishings; whirlpool spas; arcade; and recreation room. Shuttle
bus service will take guests to Walt Disney World® theme parks, and
golf will be offered at an 18-hole course designed by Rees Jones Inc. now
under development at the Bonnet Creek Resort complex.
The
hotels room mix aims to fulfill the expectations of vacationing families,
business groups and incentive travelers. All rooms will offer high-speed
Internet service; 32-inch, LCD televisions; refrigerators; coffeemakers;
and tables for dining, games or work. Twenty percent of the propertys
inventory will be devoted to Be Together Suites, oversized rooms designed
to sleep a family of six comfortably with a king-size bed, bunk-bed alcove
with game station and sofa bed.
The
hotels interior will be designed by the hospitality division of Baskervill
Hochheiser Ross of Richmond, Va. General contractor is Maitland-based WELBRO
Building Corporation. EDSA Landscape Architects of Orlando will design
the hotel grounds.
