Waterford,
CT October 2006 Recognizing the challenges of maintaining premier hotel
properties and the rising costs of such, Waterford
Hotel Group held an Engineering Conference at the Mystic Marriott Hotel
& Spa in Groton, CT to exchange ideas and discuss latest trends. More
than 20 property engineers and maintenance personnel were on hand, representing
the 26 properties in eight states professionally managed by Waterford Hotel
Group, Inc.
Waterford
prides itself in providing first-class accommodations to our guests. Equally
as important as the level of customer service we provide is the beautiful
hotel properties that we offer, said Terry Bickhardt, President, Operations
and Marketing for Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. The continued maintenance
of our buildings is a critical part of our business. If each of you make
smart choices, you will achieve smart results, Bickhardt commented to
conference participants.
The
conference was divided into four modules: Smart Energy, Smart Planning,
Smart Saving, and Smart Learning. Each session focused on a separate challenge
faced by hoteliers, offering conference participants valuable tools to
apply at their individual properties. Topics of discussion included Energy
& Utilities, Digital Thermostats, Mold Remediation, and Budget Controls.
The conference also introduced participants to new engineering management
software, Chief v5.0, as a tool to achieve and monitor the Smart Results
discussed at the conference.
During
the conference, an emphasis was placed on the importance of networking.
From the start of the conference, discussion of challenges, solutions,
and creative ideas was conducted among the group during breaks. The conference
closed with a team building session where attendees shared tips on maintenance
procedures such as drywall and wall vinyl repairs.
