Austin,
Texas June 2001 OliveDesign,
a premier Austin multimedia design studio, announced that it has completed
the redesign of the Texas Department of Economic Development Tourism Division's
Web site in partnership with Advanced Workflow Solutions, Edmondson Quest
and McCann-Erickson Southwest. The new TravelTex.com
Web site was launched in April, with greatly enhanced capabilities, and
a dynamic design capturing the character and heritage of the Lone Star
State.
The Tourism Division is responsible for promoting Texas as a premiere travel destination to domestic and international markets, and this Web site is a key component of the advertising and marketing efforts spear-headed by McCann-Erickson Southwest. This new site provides the state with a more powerful on-line presence and greater potential to increase economic opportunity and prosperity for Texas. The State of Texas, with McCann-Erickson Southwest, went through an extensive search before deciding to work with the OliveDesign, Advanced Workflow Solutions and Edmondson Quest team. Roger Edmondson, president of Edmondson Quest stated, The assembled team was really a best of breed solution. OliveDesign's creativity and organizational style worked seamlessly with Advanced Workflow Solution's powerful programming capabilities and Edmondson Quest's market research. The team's efforts combined well with the state's advertising campaign already underway by McCann-Erickson Southwest. The end result is a powerful and innovative Web site with great trip planning and search features, all with a very user friendly interface and a strong Texas brand. Now more intuitive and easy to navigate, TravelTex.com provides immediate access to a large database of events, activities and attractions of cities across the Lone Star State. Its many enhancements include an Adventure Planner that permits users to store their wish list of activities, build an exciting vacation around them and submit it directly to their travel agent for booking. Ultimately, users will have the ability to create that vacation online through Travelocity. There's no place quite like Texas. I mean you have everything from hog roping to Fiesta to Spam-o-Rama, said Joe Silva, design director of OliveDesign. We felt it was incumbent upon us to develop a site that captured the incredible diversity and character of the state. Texas is anything but boring. Its Web site shouldn't be either -- both in terms of functionality and design. Through the joint efforts of our specialized team, the Tourism Division received a dynamic site that provides users with exactly what they need to plan any activity within Texas. This was a very daunting challenge, continues Silva. It could only have happened with the complementary strengths of our three organizations. This partnership enables us to offer our clients the expertise and production capacity of larger web development firms, at a dramatically lower cost. Other recent OliveDesign projects include 212 Studios, Chicory Systems, KnowledgeBeam, Networker, West of Eden Galleries and intranet development for Cirrus Logic.
