TIA Reports: Industry Performance Comparatively Strong In February
Washington, DC � April 2005 � Key sectors of the travel industry showed improvement in February compared to twelve months earlier, according to the Travel Industry Association of America�s (TIA) Industry Performance Indicators (IPI), but the travel-related employment picture was mixed. Domestic air revenue passenger miles (RPMs) rose 1.9 percent and international RPMs rose 9.3 percent over February 2004. Lodging room revenue increased 8.2 percent during the same period. Although lodging jobs increased 2.7 percent, the airlines employed 0.2 percent fewer workers against one year ago. The monthly IPI provide a snapshot of recent trends in travel-related industry segments.
