Philadelphia,
PA February 2002 SOS Online,
the online services division of the world's largest medical and security
assistance company, International SOS, has added a Traveler Locator Service
that enables managers to track each employee's movement around the world.
With its ability to aggregate data across multiple travel management companies, including all major global distribution systems, International SOS can provide a complete picture of employee movement. In conjunction with its existing Automated Travel Advisory service, SOS Online now offers a tool for management of the full business travel cycle, from pre-trip preparation through return home. Automated Travel Advisories deliver customized email messages to subscriber employees with medical, travel, safety, and cultural information for their individual destinations. The Advisories are compiled using proprietary data gathered by SOS medical and security experts on the ground in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia, leveraging the 26 years of experience SOS has to provide comprehensive assistance to business travelers abroad. The expanded SOS Online services now offer constantly updated travel information on more than 170 countries, including health and security alerts prepared from official reports and proprietary information. In addition, SOS Online now offers an electronic Emergency Record of employees' contact information and medical history, available to SOS Alarm Centers worldwide, including a centralized immunization management system that sends out immunization reminders and simplifies record keeping. According to Tim Daniel, Chief Operating Officer, International SOS Online, the September 11, 2001 disaster forced HR, security and medical directors of global corporations to seek more proactive solutions to support business travelers and expatriates on assignment. Since September 11, the paradigms we relied on to keep American business travelers and expatriates safe have shifted. Security has taken on a different meaning and an increased level of seriousness for employers and employees alike, and will continue to evolve. No longer can medical and security assistance be separated, Daniel explained. The world's leading provider of global medical and security assistance, International SOS provides corporations with a comprehensive portfolio of medical and security services to ensure that employees traveling and working internationally have access to immediate help. Services range from 24-hour medical advice, referrals to qualified doctors and hospitals and emergency medical and political evacuations. International SOS handled over 350,000 assistance cases last year, including more than 11,000 evacuations. The company was founded in 1974, and today has facilities in 41 countries, spanning five continents and employing over 2,600 dedicated professionals in 25 SOS alarm centers, 21 International Clinics and over 180 remote medical facilities.
