Professional Development Institute of Tourism was established in 1995 in the picturesque, seaside Resort community of Parksville on Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada. Parksville centrally located on Vancouver Island away form the distraction of big cities, yet only hours away Vancouver, Victoria Skiing, Fishing Golf and other natural amities. We are a private post-secondary institute specializing in hotel management, travel and tourism offering up-to-date and internationally recognized Tourism & Hospitality Programs.

In November 1999, the Professional Development Institute of Tourism was accredited by the Private Post-Secondary Education Commission of BC. The accreditation process is entered into voluntarily and seeks recognition of the schools standards of integrity and educational competence. The institution and its programs are evaluated and recognized for quality assurance.

PDIT, in academic partnership with the acclaimed AH&LA Educational Institute, offers the Hospitality Management Diploma and Certificate programs by full time classroom study or by independent home study. PDIT is also a member of BCCCA, Chamber of Commerce, and Several Tourism and Trade association. The School principle has 35 years experience in the tourism and hospitality industry is an active Rotarian and member of various civic and professional associations.

Classroom instructions are held at the first-class Best Western Bayside Inn hotel located on Parksville Bay. Our school is small and with class sizes 12-14 maximum allows more attention to the students. Our concept is to provide Hospitality Education by Hospitality Professionals in a Hospitality setting.

The programs, comprised of several modules, are designed to allow monthly intakes. Each intake starts with a new module, which permits new and continuing students to progress with required modules to complete their program. Each module takes approximately four weeks to complete and is scheduled two days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Individuals can join our full time courses on a drop-inbasis enrolling in the particular course(s) or curriculum of interest to them.

Independent home study lets individuals already working in the industry learn while they earnon their own time as their schedule permits. We offer 26 individual courses covering every area of hospitality operations allowing the opportunity to learn new methods and approaches that are job specific, as well as Certificate of Specialization Programs in seven areas of hospitality operations, Hospitality Operations Certificate Program and Hospitality Management Diploma Program.
