Syracuse,
NY July 2013 / Hospitality 1ST / The Great
New York State Fair offers inexpensive recreational vehicle campsites
for those who do not require utility services. The Fair has 75 temporary
parking spots for such RVs in the Black parking lot. These locations do
not offer electric, water, or sewer service. They are for RVs only; tent
camping is prohibited on the State Fairgrounds.
These campsites will be available
beginning Wednesday, August 21, the day before the Fair opens. They are
purchased in person upon arrival at the Fairgrounds. Anyone wishing to
rent a spot for a given day or set of days should call the Fair at 315-487-7711
extension 1474 to check the availability of these non-utility spaces. Purchases
can only be made with cash or a credit card. Checks are not accepted.
Sites can be rented for $15
per night. Site rental does not include admission to the Fair, which is
$10 per person at the gate or $6 per person when purchased in advance of
opening day. Children 12 or under are free.
No-service RV camping will
not be offered on the Fairs infield this year. Full-service RV camping
is available in the infield for $450 for all 12 days of the Fair.
Details on how to purchase
daily camping, rules for check-in and check-out, and a list of campgrounds
near the Fair are all available at www.nysfair.org/your-fair-visit/rv-parking.
The New York State Fair runs
from August 22 September 2, 2013. The Fairs theme is Sharing the Bounty
and Pride of New York.
In addition to the annual
New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events
throughout the year, including some of the Northeasts most prestigious
horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New
York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates
all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fairs website.
