York State Fair has announced another act that will perform during
this year�s Midway Music Series.
An expected nine national, regional and local artists will perform during
the 2012 concert series.
Alternative/pop group
Wallpaper. with opener AM & Shawn Lee has been added to the lineup
of an expected nine performances to participate in the series on the Talent
Showcase Stage.
�The Midway Music Series
is a great venue to showcase up-and-coming performers such as these,� said
Dan O�Hara, Director of the State Fair. �This will be a great addition
to the free music featured at the Fair.�
Wallpaper. and their front-man,
Ricky Reed are widely recognized for their songwriting, producing, and
stage presence. The group released an EP in July of last year entitled
#STUPiDFACEDD which included the single of the same name. #STUPiDFACEDD
began to be featured on specialty and college radio including WRPI in Troy
and WSBU in St. Bonaventure. Wallpaper.�s music video for the song appeared
as part of MTV�s Indie Music Month and launched mtvU�s �31 in 31� campaign.
The group�s second single, �Best Song Everrr,� is gaining popularity and
was recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They have also been recently
featured on the soundtrack for the motion picture 21 Jump Street.
Celestial Electric, the
first ever collaboration by AM & Shawn Lee, mixes pop with funk, jazz
and soul. Released in September of last year, the album has received rave
reviews and features songs such as �Somebody Like You,� �City Boy,� �Dark
Into Light,� and �Down the Line.�
Wallpaper. will perform
with opener AM & Shawn Lee on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Acts that were previously
announced for the Midway Music Series include pop/punk bands The Downtown
Fiction performing at 8 p.m. Sept. 1 and We Are The In Crowd performing
at 8 p.m. Sept. 2.
All performances in the
Midway Music Series are free with Fair admission. More New York State Fair
concerts will be announced soon. The 2012 Fair will run from Aug. 23 to
Sept. 3.
