North Carolina Central University Hospitality and Tourism Program Durham, NC
www.nccu.edu/Academics/More_Services/ewsp.shtml
Founded in 1910, North Carolina Central University is the nation's first publicly supported liberal arts college for African-Americans. In 2001 NCCU instituted a new Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Administration as "The Career Path for the 21st Century." The program is open not only to freshmen on campus but to individuals who are currently employed in the field or others who wish to upgrade their skills or are seeking to change careers and want a second degree. Strongly grounded in core business and liberal arts curricula, the 128 semester-hour undergraduate degree program is structured to prepare graduates to assume leadership and entrepreneurial roles and to obtain management positions in the hospitality and tourism sectors. Evening classes are available and both Internet and Saturday classes are planned through NCCU's Evening/Weekend Study Program linked here.

NCCU offers competitive, merit-based scholarships, and students in Hospitality and Tourism Administration experience excellent faculty-student interaction in the School of Business. Faculty and advisers possess strong academic credentials and extensive industry experience.

Each student experiences 3 paid summer internships (1,000 hours), providing valuable work experience prior to graduation. Some of the sites to which our students have access for internships include: Carolina Club, Carolina Inn, Comfort Inn, Doubletree Guest Suites, Durham Bulls Baseball Club, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Hawthorn Suites Hotel, Holiday Inn, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Jordan Marriott, Joy Cruises, Marriott Hotel, Midway Airlines, Pinehurst Hotel and Resort, Radisson Governors Inn, Residence Inn By Marriott, Ruby Tuesday, Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, Sheraton Zimbabwe, Treyburn Country Club, UNC-Ticket Office, U.S. Airways, and Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club.
