From delectable pastries and pancakes to creamy, cheesy egg dishes, BedandBreakfast.coms second annual Best B&B Breakfast Tournament contest mirrored the NCAA® Basketballs March Madness®, with a two-week recipe battle between sweet and savory that also had a Kentucky favorite winning the national title. We couldnt be more excited to win the BedandBreakfast.com Best B&B Breakfast Tournament, joining our favorite Louisville Cardinals as national champions, says 1851 Historic Maple Hill Manor Bed and Breakfast innkeeper Todd Allen. Last year, BedandBreakfast.com launched its challenge to find the most mouth-watering, delicious breakfast among its more than 13,000 inns around the world. This year, the top Sweet and Savory 16 were chosen based on recipe creativity, uniqueness and appeal by guest judges including Anne Banas, SmarterTravel.com; Susannah Chen, PopSugar.com; and Adrien Glover, Travel + Leisure. Breakfast is the signature, and often most-anticipated amenity that guests enjoy when they stay at a bed and breakfast, says Gregory Sion, BedandBreakfast.com general manager. This annual contest showcases the amazing culinary skills and dedication to hospitality that so many innkeepers share with their guests. Interestingly, while a sweet breakfast won the hearts of BedandBreakfast.coms Facebook fans, a recent survey found that nearly 80 percent of B&B travelers choose savory over sweet for breakfast. Among B&B travelers, the BedandBreakfast.com survey revealed more than half (56%) of travelers prefer an All-American breakfast of bacon and eggs, 27 percent are Health Fanatics, preferring fruit, yogurt and granola, and 14 percent are Carb Loaders enjoying pancakes and waffles.
