Kor Hotel Group Announces Definitive Agreement to Purchase Ikal del Mar Resort on Mexicos Mayan Riviera
Los Angeles, CA March 2006 Kor Hotel Group, the Los Angeles-based luxury hotel operator, brings its management finesse to the thriving, international milieu of Mexicos Mayan Riviera. Known for its signature fusion of progressive design elements, luxury amenities and impeccable service, Kor Hotel Group is to acquire the five-star Ikal del Mar resort located near the picturesque village of Xcalacoco on the Yucatan Peninsula, ten miles north of Playa Del Carmen.

The Ikal del Mar resort will allow us to enhance our presence on Mexicos quickly-developing Mayan Riviera, an area characterized by increasingly high-end U.S. and foreign travel, said Brad Korzen, CEO of Kor Hotel Group. The resorts close proximity to our upcoming Tides Playa del Carmen and Viceroy Riviera Maya Resort and Residence emphasizes even further the extent of our involvement in the region. This stunning property is an ideal addition to our growing portfolio of international hotels and resorts.

Touted as a sexy, eco-conscious hideaway in the jungle by Travel + Leisure, Ikal del Mar is situated on approximately six acres of Caribbean waterfront property and stands as one of the few boutique-scale, five-star luxury resorts on the Yucatan Peninsula. Intimate and serene, the resorts design respects and accentuates the pristine qualities of its dramatic jungle and seaside setting: accommodations are nestled deep within the rich foliage; dining is available both indoors and outdoors; and yoga classes and spa treatments overlook coastal splendor. Service of the highest-quality completes the resorts appeal to the most discriminating of guests.

Thirty stand-alone palapas embraced by lush jungle allow guests a level of privacy not found at other resorts of the area. Suites are luxurious and spacious, at over 650 square feet each, and equipped with plunge pools and secluded private terraces.

A comprehensive jungle spa features a beachfront yoga studio, Mayan Temazcal steam treatment cave and a retail boutique selling indigenous crafts and products. Area activities are abundant and include scuba diving, cenote diving, snorkeling, horseback riding, deep sea fishing and visits to the regions Mayan ruins.

Emblematic of Kors presence on the Yucatan Peninsula, Ikal del Mar represents Kor Hotel Groups continued expansion throughout the Mayan Riviera and is part of its overall growth strategy nationally and internationally. Kor will debut two ground-up properties, Viceroy Riviera Maya in the Mayakoba resort complex and The Tides Playa del Carmen Resorts and Residences, in 2008.
