Imagine exploring mysterious life, landforms and shipwrecks found deep within Earths final frontier. Visitors to Extreme Deep will observe firsthand the technology that only recently has allowed individuals to travel to the ocean floor. From the Command Center, the launching protocol of the submersible Alvin may be simulated to begin another exciting trip to the abyss. Visitors join fellow explorers in a replica of Alvins personnel sphere, which they can operate to simulate a dive to depths of up to three miles.

Visitors can also fly a remotely operated vehicle over a model of the Titanics deck and test their skill at manipulating Alvins robotic arm by picking up lava rocks and clams from the sea floor while peering through a recreation of Alvins four-inch view port window. In addition, Extreme Deep allows visitors the opportunity to walk along a dramatically recreated ocean environment, something that is impossible to do in the real ocean because of the crushing pressure of the water. This enthralling space features many of the creatures, each depicted in full, lifelike detail, living thousands of feet below the surface around the deep sea vents.

During its six month stay, Extreme Deep will provide visitors with a world-class experience with strong educational and entertainment value at no additional admission cost. Highlighting the importance of geology, history, biology and chemistry in deep-sea exploration, Extreme Deep features interactive components that include: Research Vessel Decks Control Van, Control Centers: Alvin Sphere, ROV Console, Under Pressure InteractiveRobot Arm Interactive, Pilot A Sub, Water Column Interactive, Jellyfish Room, Garden 9°North, Juan du Fuca Ridge, Hi-Def Video Interactive, Biologic/Geologic Specimens, Plate Tectonics, and Shipwrecks: ROV Pilot, Shipwreck Footage, High Tech Viewer.
