Bryson City, NC � April 2008 � The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (GSMR) offers scheduled excursions to experience the sunset in the beautiful Smoky Mountains from the viewpoint of a comfortable vintage rail car. GSMR offers an excursion from each depot, with no layovers.

The Whittier �Sundown� Excursion departs from the Dillsboro Depot at 7:30pm on scheduled evenings in June and August, also at 8:00pm on scheduled evenings in July. This three-hour roundtrip excursion travels by The Fugitive movie site, through the Cowee Mountain Tunnel and winds along the lazy Tuckasegee River to Whittier. Enjoy the scenery and sunset on the river from an open-air car, which runs along with the Gourmet Dining Train.

The Fontana Trestle Excursion departs from the Bryson City Depot at 7:35pm on scheduled evenings in June, July, and August. This two-hour roundtrip excursion travels out to Fontana Lake for a magnificent view of the sunset over the water. The train will travel through rural communities to the Fontana Lake Trestle, spanning 780 feet and standing 100 feet above the lake. Enjoy the excursion from club, crown, or open-air seating.

Smoky Mountain Trains Museum admission is included with all train excursion tickets. (Except Thomas the Tank�, PEANUTS� The Great Pumpkin Patch Express and all Dinner Trains.) Without train excursion admission is $9.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Children.
