Don
Pedro Lake Natures Adventures
The
lakes recreation areas are 900-1000 feet in elevation, providing an oak
woodland landscape that supports a wide variety of wildlife in the ecosystem.
The Sierra foothills typical wildlife includes mule deer, raccoons, squirrels,
coyote, fox, Golden and Bald Eagles and ravens.
Lake
Don Pedro is a perfect location for those who enjoy outdoor activities.
The average water temperature nears 80 degrees with the air temperatures
in the high 90s. Gentle afternoon breezes are conducive to enjoying houseboating,
skiing, sailing and fishing. Several tributaries drain directly into Lake
Don Pedro allowing the water levels to remain high and water temperatures
ideal. The Lake itself supports Bass, Salmon, Rainbow and Brown Trout,
Catfish, Crappie and Bluegill fish. In the winter, temperatures are relatively
mild, sometimes bringing a light frost.
Don
Pedro Lake Fishing
Lake
Don Pedro, hidden in the oak and bull pine covered foothills of the Sierra,
is the fifth largest reservoir in California offering 160 miles of shoreline
with a variety of secluded coves, perfect for fishing.
The
lake is one of the finest bass fishing waters in the Northern California
area; in fact, during Spring, Lake Don Pedro consistently delivers some
of the largest Bass in Northern California. Its stocked with kokanee salmon
and rainbow trout, as well as an abundance of crappie, catfish and bluegill.
The lake hosts many major professional and club bass tournaments each year.
If you dont want to go out on the lake to fish, try fishing along the
shore from the parks day-use area near the launch ramp.
Don
Pedro Lake Park Entrance Fee
The
Lake Don Pedro Recreation Agency collects a $7.00 per vehicle per day Park
Entrance Fee. This fee is for each boat, each personal watercraft and each
vehicle at the rate of $7.00 (each) per day.
