Fayetteville, NC July
2006 The Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB)
took home three Destination Marketing Achievement Awards at the North Carolina
Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (NCACVB) annual awards
ceremony held in June.
The bureau received a Platinum Award in the category of Best Newsletter/Constituent Communication for Freedom Flyer. Freedom Flyer is distributed to members of the local hospitality community, attractions, golf courses, politicians from Fayetteville and all of Cumberland County, local representatives in Raleigh and Washington, trade magazine editors, and North Carolina Welcome Centers to keep them informed on how the FACVB is progressing in its mission of positioning Fayetteville (www.VisitFayettevilleNC.com) and Cumberland County as a destination for conventions and individual travel. A second Platinum Award in the category of Best Destination Marketing Initiative was awarded for the FACVBs E-marketing Program. In late 2005, the FACVB redesigned its e-newsletter and streamlined the program to ensure we were communicating with our target markets at least four times per year. The Freedom Flyer E-Newsletters are distributed monthly to people interested in things to see & do in Greater Fayetteville, and quarterly to people interested in Golf and golf packages, planning a meeting or convention in Greater Fayetteville and history and heritage of Greater Fayetteville. A Gold Award was secured in the category of Best Destination Marketing Initiative for the bureaus Billboards. To create a sense of place for travelers along I-95, the bureau created a billboard campaign that embraces the community as one of History, Heroes, and a Hometown Feeling. Im so pleased that the strength of our marketing pieces are being recognized by our peers, says John Meroski, FACVB President and CEO. In the coming year, we will introduce more marketing initiatives that highlight our community of history, heroes and hometown feeling. Judging for the Destination Marketing Achievement Awards was done by select CVB and tourism marketing professionals from South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Each entry was graded on a sliding point scale system and is evaluated on its own merit and demonstrated success in achieving the stated objectives. Known throughout its history
for its cultural diversity and military presence, today the Fayetteville
area stands testament to its proud past. For more information or to learn
