Elects New Members to its Board of Directors

SACRAMENTO, Calif. � December, 2000 � The California Chamber of Commerce has elected 12 new members to its Board of Directors. The California Chamber Board of Directors provides leadership to the California Chamber of Commerce as it acts to protect business rights and interests in legislative and regulatory arenas, as well as to foster a strong economic climate in the state and nation.

Members of the California Chamber Board of Directors are elected by California Chamber members and are the ranking executives of their companies. Drawn from all types and sizes of businesses, they represent many of the state's firms in the electronics, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, entertainment, financing, marketing, energy and retailing industries, as well as various professions.

New members elected to three-year term on the California Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:

David Derry is the general manager of the Southern California District of Microsoft Corporation in Irvine. He joined Microsoft in 1994. His previous experience includes serving as chief executive officer of SitBack Technologies, and positions with Sentry Systems, IBM and Harris Corporation. He received his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Kansas.

Pamela B. Gann is president of Claremont McKenna College in Claremont. Before coming to Claremont in July 1999, she served as dean of the Duke University School of Law for 11 years. She received her J.D. at Duke University School of Law and an A.B. in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

P. Gregory Garrison is the managing partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Los Angeles. He is the former chairman of the firm's Entertainment, Media and Communications Practice. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and his undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri.

Linda Griego is president and chief executive officer of Griego Enterprises, Inc. in Los Angeles. Her previous experience includes serving as president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Community Development Bank, Rebuild L.A., and deputy mayor and chief of protocol for the City of Los Angeles. She is also founder and managing partner of Engine Co. No. 28. She received her B.A. in history from UCLA.

Thomas W. Hayes is president of the Metropolitan West Securities in Los Angeles. He joined Metropolitan West in 1993 and has served as president since 1994. His previous experience includes serving as California's auditor general from 1979-1989 and serving as state treasurer from January 1989 through January 1991. He received his M.B.A. from San Jose State University.

William A Jones is senior executive vice president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. in Santa Monica. Jones has been with MGM since 1983 and his previous experience includes practicing with a private law firm and working with the Walt Disney Company. He received his B.A. from Temple University, his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Robert A. Malone is the regional president of Western United States, BP Amoco in Los Angeles. Most recently he served as president, chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Alyeska Pipeline Service, the organization that operates the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. He received his B.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso; he was an Alfred E. Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he also received a M.S. in management.

Timothy McCallion is president of the Pacific Region for Verizon in Thousand Oaks. During his 20-plus year career with Verizon (formerly GTE) he has held a variety of regulatory and government affairs positions. He received his M.B.A. and bachelor's degree in business management from Gannon University.

Robert E. Mellor is president and chief executive officer of Building Materials Holding Corporation in San Francisco. His previous experience includes serving with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, the DiGiorgio Corporation, Unocal and United States Leasing International. He received his B.A. from Westminster College and his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law.

Vivek Paul is president and chief executive officer of Wipro Technologies in Santa Clara. He has previous experience at General Electric, Bain & Company and Pepsico. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and is a graduate of Birla Institute of Technology and Science.

Stephen C. Riggins is managing partner of KPMG LLP in Los Angeles. He joined the firm's Los Angeles office in 1972, was admitted to partnership in 1981, transferred to San Jose in 1983 to lead the emerging business practice, and returned to Los Angeles in 1998. He has served as national partner-in-charge of KPMG's Information, Communications & Entertainment Practice. He received his B.A. from UCLA.

Robert Shoffner is group president of California and Nevada, Citibank in San Francisco. He joined Citibank in 1992 and has more than 25 years of retail and commercial banking experience, including having served with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and First Interstate Bank. He received his bachelor's degree from Brown University and his master's degree from Golden Gate University.

The California Chamber is the largest broad-based employer representative in California.
