Fort
Myers, FL October 2001 Salvatore Sal Dickinson has formed Dickinson
& Associates, Inc., a 360º marketing firm based in Fort Myers.
The term 360º marketing reflects a spherical perspective or holistic approach regarding the various marketing approaches one might take in solving a clients revenue objectives, be it advertising, Web/e-commerce, public relations, direct sales, special events, telephony or database marketing (CRM), noted Dickinson. Todays marketplace demands an integrated marketing approach to a companys dialogue with customers and prospects, and it is that multiplicity of expertise within the marketing discipline that we offer. We are not a one-trick-pony. A travel/tourism marketing and advertising veteran with more than 18 years experience, Dickinson was most recently vice president of marketing for MeriStar Hotels & Resorts, Inc., appointed to this position in September 1998. Dickinson was responsible for directing MeriStars Fort Myers-based marketing department, supporting promotional initiatives on behalf of the companys Florida resort properties, as well as supporting marketing and sales initiatives throughout the MeriStar system. One of the many key achievements attained during his tenure was the development of Web sites on behalf of MeriStars Southwest Florida resort portfolio that produced over $15 million dollars of direct revenues in 2000, indexing at a multiple above industry averages. Prior to joining MeriStar, Dickinson served as vice president of marketing & sales for four years with South Seas Resorts (MeriStar acquired South Seas in October 1998). During his tenure at South Seas, same store revenues grew by more than 30 percent, with a large share generated by new marketing and sales initiatives launched under Dickinsons direction. Dickinson also served for more than nine years with Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown, Inc. (formerly Robinson, Yesawich & Pepperdine, Inc.), the nations largest advertising, marketing and public relations firm specializing in serving travel-industry clients. He managed accounts such as the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, Premier Cruise Lines (The Big Red Boat), Hilton International and many independent commercial properties and resorts. Prior to his professional achievements in travel and hospitality, Dickinson worked in office automation, serving as a major accounts executive with ABP, now part of Ikon, and as marketing and promotions manager for concert promoters Gulf Artists and Silver Star Productions, producing concerts for such well known stars as Genesis, Stevie Ray Vaughan and other prominent rock and R&B bands of the 1970s and 80s. Dickinson is an active member of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), serving on the associations board of directors since 1996 and on the executive committee since 1999, is 2002 chairman elect, and immediate past chairman of HSMAIs Foundation Board of Trustees. He also is a second term appointed member of VISIT FLORIDAs Marketing Committee, and is an active member of the American Advertising Federation. Dickinson received his bachelors degree in advertising and masters degree in marketing communications from Florida State University. He is an adjunct professor at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, where he teaches tourism and hospitality marketing. Contact:
