� The Boston Celtics and Delaware North Companies - Boston recently announced
a comprehensive agreement to amend and extend the Celtics lease to play
at the TD Banknorth Garden
through the 2020-2021 season. The new lease agreement will include significant
investments in the fan experience, as well as joint sales and marketing
initiatives for The Premium Club.
| �We are excited that this extension will allow us to remain at the TD Banknorth Garden, while enhancing the Celtics game experience for our fans, through a series of immediate upgrades, effective for the 06-07 season,� said Wyc Grousbeck, Boston Celtics managing partner and governor. �For the Celtics to remain at the TD Banknorth Garden is not only good for the team but it is also good for the city of Boston and for our fans.� �This long-term lease extension represents the next step in an even closer working relationship between Delaware North Companies and the Celtics,� said Delaware North Companies Executive Vice President Charlie Jacobs. �We�re thrilled that the Celtics will be joining us in our significant investment in the fan experience that we have planned for this off-season, including a new multi-million dollar scoreboard and sound and lighting improvements that will benefit Celtics, Bruins and Garden fans alike.� In addition to these new amenities, the Celtics will unveil a new private �Courtside Club� on the event floor level for entertaining Celtics Courtside season ticket holders. Under the new lease, the team will also expand opportunities for sponsors on Celtics game nights through additional promotional rights and new scoreboard signage. In addition, the Celtics and the TD Banknorth Garden have announced that they will apply to host the NBA All-Star Weekend in either 2009 or 2010. NBA All-Star is a week-long celebration that enables fans from around the globe to experience the thrill of the NBA and its greatest players. The weekend event consists of the NBA Jam Session, the ultimate interactive basketball experience; as well as the Rookie Challenge and the NBA All-Star Saturday Night competitions, and concludes with the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. �The Boston Celtics are vital to downtown Boston and I am thrilled that they are staying at the TD Banknorth Garden,� said Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. �It is also an exciting prospect to think that Boston could be host to the NBA All-Star Weekend in either 2009 or 2010.� About
