SC � October 2003 � The fourth annual �Charleston Entertains Kitchen Tour,�
a delicious twist on Charleston�s
historic house tours, will offer visitors an opportunity to sample the
Lowcountry�s finest cuisine in some of the historic district�s most magnificent
private houses and kitchens on Nov. 15 from 2-5 p.m.
Each
of the six private residences featured on the Charleston Entertains Kitchen
Tour will feature culinary delicacies, food presentation ideas and gift
suggestions. The tour is presented by Historic
Charleston Foundation, which has successfully organized its spring
house and garden tours since 1947.
�Since
colonial times, Charlestonians have been renowned for their hospitality
and entertaining style,� said Leigh Handal, public programs director for
the Foundation.
�This
tour will generate great new ideas for people who are considering a kitchen
renovation or who enjoy entertaining. In addition, this tour will demonstrate
innovative ways owners of historic properties have designed their kitchens
within a historic context.�

In
addition to the afternoon tour, McCrady�s Restaurant will be the site of
a brunch lecture by Susan Sully, author of numerous books, including Charleston
Style, Savannah Style, and The Late Bloomers Guide to Success at any Age.
Sully�s brunch lecture will incorporate themes from her most recent book,
New Moroccan Style: The Art of Sensual Living. The book includes 25 recipes
for Moroccan-style entertaining. The brunch will begin at 10 a.m. Tickets
are $35.
All
proceeds from these events support preservation initiatives of Historic
Charleston Foundation, a non-profit educational organization whose mission
is to preserve and protect the architecture, history and culture of Charleston
