Romantic Winter Getaway Packages

Bucks County, PA � January 2003 � You�re looking for an escape from the city this winter. The Poconos are too far away and it�s too cold to enjoy the shore to its fullest extent. Those factors make Bucks County the perfect destination choice for a romantic getaway this winter, and the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (www.experiencebuckscounty.com) has made it more convenient than ever with its romantic winter getaway packages. They will allow you to get far away from activity of the city while staying closer than you ever thought, and allow you to get closer to what is really important in your life. A candlelight dinner and a cozy room with a fireplace are just samples of what await you in Bucks County.

Bucks County, roughly 30 minutes north of Center City Philadelphia, is the perfect getaway for couples looking for an escape that features equal parts romance, relaxation, delight and fun. By taking advantage of a romantic escape from the city during the wintertime, leisure travelers will have their choice of three packages from each of the three regions of Bucks County�Lower, Central and Upper Bucks. All nine packages highlight an endearing Bucks County experience and offer a two-night weekend stay at a local bed and breakfast, country inn or hotel, as well as a dinner voucher (minimum of $50) redeemable at a neighboring restaurant. The packages will be available now through the end of March.

�With these wonderful winter getaway packages, we have taken the leg work out of your worries,� says Keith Toler, Executive Director of the Bucks County CVB. �This is a terrific opportunity for travelers to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and relax with someone special. It is an easy drive and a total change of pace.�

Among the nine romantic getaway packages Bucks County packages offer everything, from theatre, history and shopping to an array of dinner and accommodations that will please everyone.

Lower Bucks County
Lower Bucks� first package includes accommodations at the Ramada Inn Levittown in a Jacuzzi suite. It also includes a $50 dinner voucher to Stocks Waterfront Restaurant, where patrons can feast on gourmet cuisine with a unique twist, while enjoying a spectacular view of the Delaware River from every table. Next, you�ll enjoy tickets to a performance at the Bristol Riverside Theatre (shows on Friday and Saturday nights only�reservations required). Packages including theatre tickets are available from January 28 to February 16 and March 18 to 30 and costs $366.

Package two from Lower Bucks County will have the traveler staying at the Inn to the Woods in Washington Crossing. Travelers will be greeted with champagne and a fruit platter upon their arrival and will be served continental breakfast in their room. The Inn to the Woods is located on seven and a half wooded acres. Its rooms have luxurious private baths, unique furnishings and fireplaces. Enjoy dinner with a $70 dinner voucher to the Yardley Inn, a 19th century landmark that offers a bold contemporary culinary style. Take in some history with free admission to Washington Crossing State Park, the place where on Christmas Night in 1776 George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the icy Delaware River. The package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $453.

A stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Bensalem awaits travelers who choose the third Lower Bucks package. After receiving a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine as in-room gifts upon arrival, enjoy the fresh flavors of Italy in the warm, festive atmosphere of Carabbas with a $50 dinner voucher. Then, venture out for a shopping excursion at the Franklin Mills Mall. There are no blackout dates for this package and it costs $169.

Central Bucks County
Get further away from the hustle and bustle of the city to Central Bucks and enjoy its museums, shopping and down-home hospitality of a bed and breakfast. The three Central Bucks packages allow couples to �cozy up� to one another and take pleasure in some of Bucks County�s finest restaurants.

The historic 1814 House Inn on Main Street in the heart of Doylestown and a bottle of wine await you with the first Central Bucks package. With a $50 dinner voucher to Siam Cuisine at Black Walnut, you�ll savor the delicious fusion of French and Thai cuisine that is artfully presented. Admission to two of Bucks County�s most popular museums�The Mercer Museum and the James A. Michener Art Museum�is also included. The Mercer Museum houses dramatic displays of the folk art, furnishings and implements of early America. The Michener Art Museum promotes the arts through its collection of 20th century American art in sculpture, changing exhibitions and ongoing cultural programs. This package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $563.

Cordials Bed and Breakfast, set in the heart of New Hope, offers the charm of the past and the comforts of the present. The second package from Central Bucks includes accommodations at Cordials and a $75 dinner voucher on either Friday or Saturday evening to the Center Bridge Inn, an historic inn established in 1705 that offers an elegant, tasteful and memorable dining experience (reservations required). After enjoying one another�s company at dinner, enjoy shopping for collectibles at the 75 quality specialty shops of Peddler�s Village. You will receive a coupon book, shopping bag and map to this charming 18th century style village. The package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $363.

Similar to the second Central Bucks package, the third also offers dinner at the Centre Bridge Inn and shopping at Peddler�s Village. Travelers can stay at the inviting cabin of the Inn at Stoney Hill. New Hope�s Inn at Stoney Hill is a warm lodge in the woods with a two-story stone fireplace in the great room. The bedroom has an antique motif, a queen sleigh bed, private bath, cable television and a sliding glass door that leads to the patio. The package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $443.

Upper Bucks County
Bucks County is famous for its fantastic wine. And the three Upper Bucks County packages feature tasting at one of Bucks County�s most famous wineries. Accommodations at an inviting inn and superb dining make the trip out of the city to rural Bucks County a must.

In Upper Black Eddy, the Indian Rock Inn is a charming historic inn with a breathtaking river view, access to the river/towpath. It has spacious guestrooms that are home to country furnishings and private baths, await you with the first package. Take in dinner for two at the inn where classic country French cuisine with Mediterranean flare are the norm. Wine tasting and a barrel tour at Sand Castle Winery is next on the itinerary. Nestled on the banks of the Delaware River, Sand Castle Winery is the purveyor of world-class wines with a long and noble heritage. Sand Castle�s founders were born and raised in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, a region famous for its wine making even before the Romans ruled the world. The package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $372.

If you�re looking for the ultimate in stress relief in a warm European style inn that is nestled off the beaten path, Upper Bucks� second package is a perfect fit. Visitors can take comfort in the cozy guestrooms, a three-course breakfast, and full bar at Arianna Miles Bed and Breakfast in Quakertown. After the in-room gift of a bottle of French champagne, partake in a six-course candlelight dinner for two at the inn�s restaurant on either Friday or Saturday night. The wine tasting and barrel tour of Sand Castle Winery is included as well. The package is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $361.

At Evermay on the Delaware in Erwinna, 18 rooms with private baths await patrons of the third Upper Bucks package. Located on 25 acres with gardens on the Delaware River, this manor and carriage house offers a full breakfast as well as afternoon tea. On either Friday or Saturday evening, guests can redeem a $50 dinner voucher to the restaurant at Evermay on the Delaware. The same wine tasting and barrel tour at Sand Castle Winery is also included in this package. It is not available on Valentine�s Day weekend and costs $393.

All areas of Bucks County are close to Center City Philadelphia and easily accessible from both Interstate 95 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
