Knoxville,
TN January 2005 In a recent survey conducted by BringYourPet.com,
more than 63% of those surveyed would be more likely to lengthen their
hotel stay if given the opportunity to travel with their pets.
This
survey is a great example of the potential economic impact traveling pet
owners can have on the travel industry, states BringYourPet.com spokesperson,
Brian Bailey. If guests are allowed to bring their pets with them, not
only will they stay in your hotel, but they will stay longer.
So
why will pet owners extend their vacation plans if they can take their
pets with them? Most likely, it all boils down to simple economics. The
cost to board just one dog for one week can reach almost $200. Costs continue
to climb when you consider some of the hidden fees such as grooming before
pick-up, extra outdoor or activity time, and taxes. Even with the extra
pet fees that some pet-friendly hotels charge, it is still usually cheaper
to take Fido along for the ride than to board him.
Of
course, pet owners are mostly concerned about the well-being of their pets.
The knowledge that your beloved furry friends arent suffering in a kennel
while youre having a grand time certainly makes it easier to extend your
vacation. And the added pleasure of coming back to meet a wagging tail
makes your hotel room even more of a home away from home.
BringYourPet.com
polled thousands of its Web site visitors, newsletter subscribers, and
random households regarding their travel and purchase habits. All who participated
in the survey own at least one pet.
