Phoenix,
AZ April 2003 If youve ever made a wrong
turn, read the map upside down, forgotten to pack your socks or any of
the other travel blunders that become cherished family stories, youre
not alone. Now, Best Westerns
website features a monthly column recounting those events and the lighter
side of travel through Traveling Lite.
For
a slightly cockeyed look at the travel experience, check out the new column
at bestwestern.com. Once there,
click on the Trip Planner and scroll down. Columns will appear monthly
and eventually feature an archive of past stories.
Traveling
Lite is written by Skip Boyer, Best Westerns travel historian. A veteran
traveler and award winning travel writer, hes been chronicling the lighter
side of travel for Best Western for 20 years. In Traveling Lite, he shares
his fascination with maps, place names, odd events, obscure museums, secondary
highways, small towns and the people he meets along the way. He still believes
that getting there is half the fun. The other half, he says, is getting
back.

People
in North America have always loved to travel, ever since the first cruise
ship docked at Plymouth Rock, says Boyer. Thats going to be especially
true this year, as North American travelers, especially families, take
to the highways and byways in search of new memories and to rediscover
old treasures which is what Traveling Lite is all about.
In
addition to Traveling Lite, Best Westerns Trip Planner also offers a variety
of travel planning tools to help create those memorable events. Current
features include mapping functions, the Kidz Korner with downloadable games
and tips for traveling with the kids, packing tips and driving tours called
On the Road With Best Western.
