Position
This is an opportunity to build a brand from the ground up and to establish a career at a winery dedicated to excellence. This position will manage all visitor center operations for the winery, including the tasting room, food education program, concierge department and special events.

Reporting Relationships
This position will initially manage 8 tasting room staff members, including the tasting room supervisor. Eventually, this position will also manage the Food Education, Special Events and Concierge department heads. These include both full and part-time employees. This position reports into the President and has key interaction with the Director of Marketing.

Location
This position is based at the winery in Napa, California.

Professional Responsibilities
The following list of responsibilities should not be considered exhaustive � additional duties will be required.

Tasting Room Operations

  • Oversee and manage the daily operation of the on-site tasting room.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and tracking monthly sales goals for the Tasting Room.
  • Requires strategizing and forward thinking regarding the sale of wine and merchandise in the Tasting Room.
  • Analyze sales reports generated through the POS system. Work with the President and Director of Marketing to review new releases and draft pricing strategies, promotions and specials.
  • Work directly with the public gauging interests and needs.
  • Conduct on-going research on appropriate new merchandise and produce a 6-month purchasing plan of items to enhance sales and the appearance of the tasting room.
  • Assist in budget development and management.
Tasting Room Leadership
  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision and education of the Tasting Room staff.
  • Work directly with Marketing to support on-going education about the wines, the winery and the vineyards as well as the point of sales/cash register system and tasting room procedures.
  • Hold mandatory bi-monthly meetings before business hours with the Tasting Room staff.
  • Offer proposals for on-going staff training and possible sales incentive programs. Conduct regular staff performance reviews, reporting to the President.
Special Events
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating special events at the behest of Sales and Marketing for the on/off premise sales sector to include winemaking dinners, trade tasting, public tasting and VIP visits to the winery.
  • Responsible for internal communication about the schedule of events.
Tracking and Reporting
  • Responsible for consistent and accurate tracking of merchandise movement in and out of the Tasting Room, the Cellar and the Wine Library.
  • Oversee monthly merchandise inventory and provide detailed information to the President in a timely manner.
  • Compile sales and donation reports for the Owner and President on a monthly basis.
Position Requirements
  • Passion for wine.
  • Minimum 3 years hospitality or brand experience in the luxury sector, or a combination of education and such experience.
  • Minimum 4 years people management experience.
  • Exceptional people skills, charisma, energy and friendliness. Ability to represent the winery in an elegant, but not arrogant, manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding management and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on leadership, strategic planning and financial analysis.
  • Commitment to excellence and to constantly improving skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage a staff of employees and work well in a team environment.
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
