| Three Executives Appointed to Manage Galveston’s Historic Hotels Three Executives Appointed to Manage Galveston’s Historic Hotels Cunningham, who brings more than 25 years of experience in lodging, food and beverage and convention centers, is responsible for all three properties. He formerly was general manager of Hotel ZAZA in Houston, where he increased guest satisfaction from 68 to 85 percent in six months. Under his leadership, Hotel ZAZA earned AAA’s Four Diamond rating and was named Best New Business Hotel by Fortune magazine. He previously was executive director at The Sterling at Memorial Villages, Houston, and senior director of asset management for Ashford Hospitality Trust, Dallas. He served Marriott for nearly 20 years in positions including area general manager of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in Texas; regional vice president of Marriott ExecuStay for the Midwest Region; general manager of the Houston Marriott Hotel. He also served in management roles at several Atlanta-area Marriott hotels. Toran has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 25 years. She previously was general manager of the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and hotel manager and director of operations at Martineau Bay Resort & Spa, Vieques, Puerto Rico, where she oversaw its transition to the first W Hotel Resort in the World, the W-Vieques. She also held management positions at Villa Montana Beach Resort, Isabella, Puerto Rico; Crowne Plaza Hotel, Harrisburg, Pa.; The Westin Rio Mar, Country Club & Ocean Villas, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico; Caneel Bay Resort, a Rosewood Resort, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; and others. Miles, a 25-year food-and-beverage veteran, oversees the restaurants, bars and banquet and catering service at Hotel Galvez, The Tremont House and Harbor House Hotel. He previously was the founder and president of Casino Food and Beverage Solutions LLC, a Las Vegas firm that offers consulting services to casinos, resorts, hotels, restaurants, lounges and convention centers. Earlier,
he led the food and beverage services of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., where
he created a recruiting system targeting the nation’s top culinary schools.
As a result of his efforts, the company improved the talent and strength
of its culinary and restaurant management teams. Earlier, he held senior
food and beverage positions at Patriot American Hospitality, Richfield
Hospitality Services and Doubletree Hotels & Resorts. Miles holds two
professional designations, the Certified Hotel Administration and Certified
Food and Beverage Executive.
