Montclair State University's programs in Commercial Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Management celebrated its' 25th Anniversary in 2001. The program provides an integrated approach to the Mega-Industry encompassing all industries within the hospitality, leisure and tourism umbrella. Graduates have followed highly successful career paths in hotel management, theme park management, travel and tour companies, cruise lines, general commercial recreation, sports and entertainment facilities, public recreation, events, meeting and convention planning and have also found success in a variety of other service related industries. 

The academic program includes 42 credit hours of diverse mega-industry related coursework and two internships. Montclair State University is proud to have offered the oldest known Events Management coursework in the world with our Special Events Management class first being taught in 1979! Montclair State University is one of the two oldest and longest runnning University programs in the country to participate in the Walt Disney World College Program. Many of our graduates work for the Walt Disney Company today and for other businesses in Central Florida. In addition to Disney students have interned with vitually ever hotel chain in the country, NCL Cruise Lines, RCL Cruise Lines, American Express, Far and Wide Travel, New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, The New Jersey Nets, The New Jersey Devils, The New York Giants, Madision Square Garden, numerous radio station and television outlets in the metropolitan N.Y./N.J. area, Clear Channel Inc./SFX, Intrawest Corporation (Ski Areas) and countless other companies in the diverse leisure, tourism and hospitality mega-profession.

Montclair State University is ideally located in that it is just 14 miles from midtown Manhattan and has direct connect train service to midtown Manhattan departing directly from the campus. The University is dedicated to multi-cultural education, critical and democratic thinking, and global education. The University has approximately 10,000 full time students and is hoping to grow dramatically in the next five years. The University is moderately priced with undergraduate tution and fees of approximatley $6,000 annually for out of state students and $4,500 for in state students. Residence Hall housing is available for approximately 2,500 students.
