Yosemite National Park,
CA – July 2010 – In recognition of the value
placed in its efforts to be the best concessioner in the National Park
System, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, Inc.
has announced the promotion of Chief Operating Officer Dan Jensen to the
position of President. In his new role, Dan will continue to have executive
responsibility for Delaware North Companies’ operations in Yosemite,
but will also have an expanded role in working on key issues relating to
National Park Service matters.
Dan (pictured) has long been an advocate for Yosemite, having worked in the Park from 1979 through 1992 while raising his family in the community. Since that time, and prior to joining DNC in 2006, Jensen worked in a number of senior positions for Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando, Florida and Japan, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Universal Studios Japan. Yosemite feels like home to both Dan and his wife, Suzanne, as both were born and raised a few hours south of the Park in Visalia, California. They were residents in Yosemite when their children, Ben and Amy, were born and later attended the Yosemite Elementary School in the heart of Yosemite Valley. Dan has an undergraduate degree from UC Riverside, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society, and he later earned his MBA at UCLA. Dan worked for Price Waterhouse in Los Angeles and Johannesburg, South Africa, prior to coming to Yosemite National Park in 1979. In a concurrent move, Dan is pleased to announce the promotion of VP of Operations Paul Ratchford to the position of Vice President. In his new role, Paul will oversee all lodging, retail, sales and marketing, human resources, recreation and transportation in Yosemite National Park for Delaware North Companies. A 35-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Paul has held multiple senior leadership positions with Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Destinations Hotels and Resorts, and most recently as President and CEO of the famed Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. “When Paul joined our company in January 2009, we were confident that his leadership talents and love for the entire Yosemite area would be a good fit for our team,” said Dan Jensen. Paul and his wife, Kris, raised their family in the Yosemite gateway communities of Oakhurst and Bass Lake from 1993 to 2000 while he was the General Manager of the Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, a full-service spa resort located just outside the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. “We are pleased to be part of this beautiful neighborhood and feel blessed to live and work in Yosemite, so close to our family and friends,” said Paul.
