Space Center Visitor Complex Celebrates Scouting and Homeschooling with
Annual Salute Programs

Canaveral, FL – April 2013 / Hospitality 1ST / This year, Boy Scouts,
Girl Scouts and homeschoolers are invited to participate in the annual
Salute programs, a celebration of student achievements in math and science,
at Kennedy Space Center Visitor
Complex. The Salute to Scouts and the Salute to Homeschoolers
programs honor the next generation of scientists and space explorers as
they learn the story of NASA’s space missions and discover the importance
of those missions through exciting hands-on activities.
Salute
to Scouts is the ultimate behind-the-scenes experience designed to
support the national scouting Space Exploration and Aerospace Merit Badge
requirements. Salute to Scouts participants enjoy a private, interactive
briefing about NASA’s latest missions, meet a veteran astronaut and participate
in
a variety of teamwork and space exploration activities to earn a commemorative
Kennedy Space Center patch.
The
Salute
to Girl Scouts event is May 4, with registration due by April 26. The
Salute to Boy Scouts event is Nov. 16, with registration due by
Nov. 8. Both Salute to Scouts events are $45 per person plus tax.
Salute
to Homeschoolers engages homeschool students, families and teachers
during an exciting field trip opportunity that meets Florida Sunshine State
Standards, FCAT requirements and national science standards. Salute to
Homeschool participants enjoy special hands-on activities, meet an astronaut,
learn about the latest NASA accomplishments and take a behind-the-scenes
bus tour of Kennedy Space Center.
The
Salute
to Homeschoolers program is April 27, with registration due by April
20. The event is $45 per person.
Participation
in all of the Salute programs includes the opportunity to enjoy special
activities, the new Angry Birds™ Space Encounter, IMAX® films, the
KSC Bus Tour, Shuttle Launch Experience, shows and exhibits, the U.S. Astronaut
Hall of Fame and lunch.
